This is my first book that I have picked up of J.D. Hawkins, yet for some reason everything about this book draws you in. There’s not a lot of male authors out in bookworld, but honestly after picking up this book you can understand why this author stands out quite a bit to some of the others out there. For one, this book has attitude, not just with the characters but there’s just that whole look to it as well. The lead character Cole is something though and honestly, when I picked up this book I thought that I may not like Cole as much as I ended up. For some reason, J.D. managed to hooked until the very end, but for some unknown reason I was more interested in reading from Cole’s point of view than I was from Willow’s. Don’t get me wrong, the story turned out amazingly and I enjoyed the writing style, but I just found Willow to be slightly dull a little, even though she had a great personality and was a great chef, I just didn’t find it appealing when it was her POV. It’s not to say that this book was bad, because I know for a fact that I will most likely be reading more of J.D. Hawkins work.
Cole is one of the most famous people in LA, he has been on television, had success with his restaurant Knife and is getting ready for the launch of his second restaurant that’s opening in Vegas. What more could he ask for? Well he thought he knew until he walked into Knife for a quick bite to eat and found out that someone had dared messed with the ingredients of one of his dishes, everyone who knows him knows that you don’t mess with the recipes yet someone has and that Cole will most likely fire them….. He’s got that in mind until he sets sights on Willow, not only is she a good chef, she happens to have a mouth on her and isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind, but normally that ends up with her getting into some kind of trouble. However, things seem to take an unexpected turn when she turns around and calls him out on the way he is, but little does she realise that he’s the owner of Chef…… I would go into more, but honestly, I think that you should have a read of this book yourself and get a feel of the book.
