Ava Alise’s work is new to me, I’ve been following her for a while but in terms of actually going ahead and trying her work is something I’ve never gotten to do… So now that I have had the chance to explore her work, I have to say I find myself quite surprised at the level of talent she has as a writer. Ava knows how to keep you hooked on something, especially when you’re only meant to be reading a short section as you need to do something, but instead you find yourself forgetting about the task at hand and just carry on reading as you’re that gripped with the storyline. As I know that this isn’t Ava’s first book and one of her recent ones I would honestly be interested in seeing what her earlier work has to offer. I do think that Ava is extremely talented and she has done a great job on this book. However, the one thing that stood out to me, is that at times I would find myself rereading little bits that I had only just read about. I know that it wasn’t intentional on Ava’s behalf but sometimes when it comes to repeating certain events or things in books it can get quite frustrating as you’ve already about it and have an understanding, but then seconds later you’re reading something you’ve just read about.
Other than that, I honestly can’t fault the story, I’m excited in seeing what else Ava creates, plus I’m interested in seeing how things work out for King as you got to see a handful of characters in this book.
This book seemed so down to earth and in a way I could find myself relating to it as if these things were just normal occurrences and not something that’s just been thought up of. Ava has given this book character and I’m excited to see what else her talent brings.
I would definitely recommend that you give this a try, you never know, you may find yourself discovering a new author.
Jordan and Xia have known each other for as long as they can remember, they have done pretty much everything together…. However they are both holding a deep secret from one another. Both scared of actually admitting the truth, they both just continue on as if everything is okay with the world and avoid what they are truly feeling for one another. Jordan is about to find out if he can get the assistant’s position for the one professor at the College they both attend, so he’s pretty worked up over that. He’s in a relationship with a girl who he feels nothing for, but he’s determined to get his life together so that he can go after his dreams. Xia is doing as great as she can get, that is until the one morning she ends up seeing her father with some random girl who he’s never met…. That’s when her whole world comes crashing down.
A few days pass and Jordan is concerned about how things are with Xia, so he forces her into hanging out with him for the night and then study the next day. But one night of drinking with the guys and they end up waking up the next day unsure of what to make of the situation they are both in…. Will their friendship be changed forever or will this be the thing that has needed to happen for so long?
