I had no idea what was going to happen in this book, but after reading the prequal I had a feeling that Jessica Wayne was going to put us through an emotional roller-coaster, then again, she does like to keep us on our toes when it comes to her books. And as always this book was no different, she managed to create such a mesmerising story and you can’t help but get sucked into this world.
Even though this is in a way part of the Vampire Huntress Chronicles, it’s also not at the same time, but that’s mainly due to the fact that this is set a little after that series, but still it’s just as gripping. You will recognise some of the characters in the book, but at the same time it’s also going to be based on new people, yet most of them are loveable, others you can’t help but want to end up punching, then again it wouldn’t be one of Jessica’s books if there wasn’t at least one person you want to slap.
Overall I thought the story was so catching and I just wanted to keep reading once I started it. I thought that Ember is such an intriguing character and that she had a lot of potential, but also that she had been dealt such a difficult hand in life, but still I admired her and how strong she was. She’s a good person and all that she really deserves is answers and also to have a happy life, but with Jessica writing this story it’s clear that she’s going to have fun tormenting her characters and leaving it a good while before Ember gets some type of answers about anything.
I couldn’t fault the story at all, I just wanted to keep reading, especially after the way she ended it, but that’s Jessica’s thing, leaving her books on cliff-hangers, but she knows what she’s doing in order to draw you in to read the rest of the books.
I’m excited to see what happens next because I honestly have no idea what is going to happen next or even the direction it will go in.
I’d highly recommend giving this a read if you’ve not already, the twists and turns make it worth it.
Ember is human, with her health not the best and her slowly losing her fight to her illness, she decides that taking a trip will do her some good before she ends up dying within the next six months as that’s all she has left.
After deciding Ireland is the best place to go, she sets off and decides to live her life to the fullest but that’s shortly stopped after having to force her way through a dinner that she knows is only going to make her worse. But the first night isn’t what it seems, after somehow getting lost during her night-time stroll, she ends up in Faerie but she just thinks it’s a dream. Yet she has no idea what’s in store for her when it becomes apparent that she’s far away from Ireland.
Rafferty will do anything he can to show the people in Faerie that he is the rightful king of their land, and that includes taking down his brother in the process. Now with him after the one thing that could help him rule for good and change the outcome for good, he is determined to find it.
Will Ember be able to find a way back home or has Rafferty got other ideas???
Will Ember be able to find a way to help break Taranus free from his cell and out of the hands of Rafferty????
