I knew that when I started this book that I was going to have to make sure that I went in with my walls up, as I know from experience both Nia Farrell and Claire Marta can be evil… the previous books in the series have proven that already. But I was not prepared for this book at all, even though I know I should have been. With this being the last book in this series, I had a feeling that both Claire and Nia had a lot planned and they were going to do their best to cause fireworks because that’s what they like doing and they honestly delivered on it. If you’ve read Claire’s work in the past then you’ll know how twisted her mind can get, but if you add Nia into the equation as well you’ll have no idea what to expect.
I’ve honestly enjoyed reading this series as it’s been something different than your traditional romance books, both Nia and Claire have put their own spin on things and made it so much more.
I have a feeling that some readers may end up crying once they get to reading this book, it’s so much more powerful and raw than the others but it just works out so well.
From the beginning when this series started you’ve had glimpses of Tobias and gotten to know him a little, but overall he gives off the impression that he’s happy, but in reality this book gives you so much more than what we originally thought. It’s clear that he’s lonely and that he’s got a past, but we only learn of that past now and it’s such a heart-breaking one.
I loved every minute of this book, even at times where they both decided to be evil and torture us, it was well worth it in the end. Their passion for writing shines through their words and you can see their writing compliments the other so well.
I honestly couldn’t fault this story, it all worked pretty amazingly, there’s so much going on but it will be worth it when you see for yourself. The characters were incredible and had amazing chemistry and sass.
Trust me when I say you’ll need tissues if you’re a crier, don’t go in with your walls down because Claire and Nia will mess with your emotions and you’ll have no idea what’s happening. You’ll want to get your hands on this as it’s going to be one explosive display of fireworks.
Tobias has been leading the Citadel for a good while now and whilst the rest of his men have found compatible mates, he can’t help but feel a little lonely. He knows his mission is to make sure everyone finds their mates and then procreate, but still he can’t help but feel a little jealous of his brothers. But still he knows that he can’t dwell on that when Etienne is still at large and he’s rallied up with Ivan… With coming no further to figuring out to take him down, he has no idea what to do about it, but when it becomes apparent that someone has slipped inside the Citadel he has no idea if it’s for the good or evil, especially when it seems like his past is back to haunt him.
Ash is trying her best to keep out of sight and hidden away so that her step-father can’t find her… so far she’s doing well, but she knows her time is running out slowly. With her step-father wanting to give her over to Etienne she knows she can’t risk anything, so when seeking shelter she happens to come across the Citadel and manages to slip in without being seen.
Not having any clue if she can trust the people inside, she chooses to stay hidden until needed, but she happens to catch glimpse of someone in one of the workshops, and now she can’t get him out of her head.
What will happen when Tobias realises that she has a connection with Etienne??? Will Tobias ever actually find someone to be with or will Ash be that for him??? Will they ever finally defeat Etienne????
