It’s been such a while since I picked up one of J.D. Hawkins’ books and I forgot how incredibly gripping they can be. The cover on its own is enough to make you want to pick it up and hide away with as it’s essentially juicy. That being said, I know for a fact that when I pick up one of his books, I will end up loving the story because J.D. Hawkins knows what his readers like and he always delivers to them.
That being said, I loved the dynamics and the tension between Maeve and Toby, it’s like they had their own Spanish little dance routine going on. It’s clear evident that there’s something there between the two of them, but I seriously love the chase that Maeve always gives Toby. The one thing that I love the most that J.D. Hawkins did with this story is that he made the lead female (Maeve) be so out of touch with her feelings, that she comes across as cold half of the time and isn’t willing to let anyone in close. She pushes away feelings as in her eyes they won’t get her anywhere. Normally in books it’s the males that are really insecure about how their feeling or will this be worth it or whatnot, but I like how he’s made Toby to be the strong one even though he does seem to have a very strange way of doing things or getting attached to people.
Overall I think that this was an amazing story, the characters were completely epic and I couldn’t get enough of it. I literally can’t fault this book because everything you could ever imagine is in your hands.
I’d recommend giving this a read because it’s such an incredible story that will leave you wanting more.
Six years ago both Maeve and Toby met through Toby’s sister Mia and they ended up giving into a night of hot passion between the two of them. Yet they both knew that it could only be the one time and nothing more could ever become of it.
So over the last six years they’ve always been flirtatious to each other but also playing this game of cat and mouse, but they always knew where the line stopped.
Now with them both doing incredibly well, Maeve working in fashion and possibly on the verge or more and Toby owning his very own successful jewellery shop, Toby can’t help but wonder what Maeve could be doing in his shop considering it’s been a while.
With being invited to a party, Toby casually invites himself and things go from there.
When Toby realises that he wants Maeve even though in his eyes she’s someone who’s off-limits, will he do the right thing by chasing her and attempting to prove this is no joke and he loves her or will he sit back and just lust after her?
When Maeve needs help with an upcoming project, will she turn to Toby for advice and help or will she do it on her own considering she’s such an independent woman???
