I don’t know how J.D. Hawkins does it… but he has serious talent. No matter what book he writes, he always seems to throw it out of the park and make you just want more from him. Every book I’ve read of his so far, he’s always left me wanting more of his work. It’s just clear that he knows what his readers want, but also puts his own spin on them.
I’ve been hooked on his work for ages, but still I’ve also been intrigued to see how things would play out with Hazel and I LOVE how she’s been given her own story. I thought she was a quirky character back in Maeve’s story, but I think that she got a pretty well deserving story.
I honestly thought that this book would go a certain way at one point, but I have to say that the way I thought didn’t actually happen and I was left in shock… but good shock. There’s just something about J.D. Hawkins’ writing that just captivates you and you just get swept up in the words.
I actually can’t fault this book, I loved Hazel, she was just incredible. I loved Nate, even though I really did feel for him, but still he was just incredible and it was obvious from the start that their paths were heading towards each other, just not clear how until you got throw the story. But either way, I loved everything that was done with this story and I was rooting for them both from the beginning.
I didn’t want to actually put the book down, but at certain points like needing to sleep, eat and even venture out I had to stop, but still I just loved every word that was written. I’m just super excited to see what else he writes because I can never get enough.
Trust me when I say you’ll want to give this a read, especially when it comes to picturing Nates body… I know I loved every minute of that because he has the body most girls wished guys had in real life, but it was still nice getting all hot and flustered by imagining him.
You’d think that with having some time off, getting to unwind from reality and just enjoy the sun that it would make Hazel enjoy the peace that she currently has… but that’s not the case. After being sent on vacation, all paid for by her friend, she is hating the silence and not being able to shut her mind off. Thinking it would be the perfect remedy to help get over her ex-boyfriend, Hazel would much rather be at work as to her, she feels she’s the type of girl that no one wants for her, she’s not noticeable and at times it can be frustrating.
Choosing to take things into her own hands because she’s wanting to relax, she can’t help but be intrigued by one conversation that seems to be happening at the outdoor bar. It’s not like she was listening on purpose, but after going ahead with the idea of just winging things, she ends up bumping into the most incredibly fit guy that she can’t help ooogling. When he proposes to her that she help him pretend they’re together so that he can impress his boss, she just goes along without any questions asked.
Will this be something that Hazel ends up regretting or is she set to be making the best choice ever??? Will Hazel be able to help Nate fool his colleagues??? When he offers her the chance at anything for helping him, will she go ahead and take the leap, or will she go ahead and just remember their time as an amazing experience???
