After learning that the first book finished on a cliff hanger I was anxious to find out what was going to happen next, plus I was really intrigued to find out what Emma's father had to say to her.
As soon as Emma arrived back home she wasn't expecting her dad to have been beaten up and after having a go at him she finally gets some answers, but what shocks her the most is not the drinking and gambling but what the deal he made in order to pay back the debt he owed. When he reveals that she was part of the deal and that she would have to marry one of the bad guys son's, she is not exactly thrilled with the idea but after giving it some thought she feels that the only way to save her father is to go through with it all even though it's going to break her heart. In order for her doing this for her father he has to agree that he is going to try and be a better dad and to stop living in the past.
Emma has got so many thoughts going through her head that she has no idea what she is going to tell Daniel and Damion, but when she gets to the restaurant to meet her friends, it's like she isn't even there.
After much probing to get what's wrong out of her she ends up revealing the truth when Damion decides that he is going to go. The reaction she expected from Daniel is not the one that she gets, instead he doesn't seem to understand why she is willing to agree to the deal that her father made, he thinks that's she is throwing everything away and her being there doing things for him isn't going to make things any better. After trying to reason with him he tells her that if she is willing to go through with all of this and risk her happiness then she can forget about him and he leaves her.
After a long night Emma comes to her senses and realises that she is going to find another way to help save her father just so that she isn't having to give everything for herself. She heads on over to Daniel's office to try and talk to him but she gets a massive surprise when she gets there, as it turns out Daniel came there in the middle of the night took all his belongings and caught a flight to London for a new job. Emma can hardly believe what's happening and ends up calling Damion for help.
Damion finally learns the truth of everything as when he gets to Emma's house she reveals everything including the whole thing about Daniel. Damion is completely understanding about everything and he understands her reasons for her father, he is willing to sit there and be there for when she needs to.
What will Damion make of Daniel leaving him and Emma when they need him the most, and what will happen with their new business. Will Emma be able to figure a way to help her father without having to sacrifice herself.
The only way you are going to find any of this out is if you pick up this book and read it.
