After learning that Emma's dad is in some really big trouble and that the only way to help him out was for Emma to marry Nick, Emma has no idea what to do but with Damion still beside her she knows that there has got to be some hope.
Damion makes some calls to arrange a meeting with Nick, and when Emma goes there to see if she can find another way to help her dad, the last thing she was expecting to do was make friends with Nick and to also give Nick half of her business. She finds herself warming to him, as Nick opens up about himself and the fact that his father is always a disappointment to him and when she hears this she can relate to him as that's what her own father is like.
Once Damion learns of the fact that half of the business is now Nick's he really isn't impressed as he thinks that he has a motive in order to either hurt Emma's dad or to just manipulate Emma into falling for his charms. But after a night of celebration of the company now opening and starting to take off Damion finds himself also warming to Nick, even though he still has his doubts he is completely shocked that Nick can read him and because of this they both become great friends. Also with the fact that Daniel is no longer there Damion does find himself quite lonely and that's another reason for why they both have that special moment whilst they are out celebrating.
Emma is keeping away from her dad because she doesn't exactly believe that he is going to sober up and start to go back to how he used to be, but her dad is determined to prove her wrong as when he found out that Emma went to see Nick to figure a way to help him out he is honestly shocked that things have turned out differently. But the next time that Emma does end up going there she is surprised that her dad kept to his word and actually hasn't touched any alcohol but she is also pretty proud of him. After a heart to heart with him they are both starting to understand each other and the fact that her dad didn't even know that Daniel had broken her heart and left her he is completely shocked because of how many years they spent as best friends. He can tell that Emma is still hurting even just by mentioning his name, but he lets Emma know that he is there for her.
Emma is still struggling to cope with the fact that Daniel and upped and moved to London, but she is trying to not let it get in the way of her business, so when her, Damion and Nick are out having a drink in a coffee shop she gets the biggest shock ever. At first she doesn't really notice anything but then when Daniel emerges and only speaks to Damion it's like her whole world has just paused around her, she has no idea what he is doing back but she is just completely hurt when he doesn't speak to her.
Will Emma's dad be able to be the dad she's always wanted or will he just give up and go back to being how he was. And what will happen now that Daniel has decided to show up out of the blue, will he be back for Emma or for a completely different reason. The only way to find out is by reading this book. This book had me gripped from the start and I couldn't put it down until I had finished reading the last word.
