I honestly can’t believe how the first book ended in this series, after waiting a while before getting to read something by Roxy Sloane, she has literally blown it out of the park… And this second book is no laughing matter, you can’t help but feel for Juliet because whilst at first she was doing things in order to get the dirt on him, but things changed after she realised that there was more to Caleb and after the way the first book ended you had no idea how things would progress between everyone involved now. I know that Juliet grows as a person but at the same time it’s clear that Caleb has some effect on her even though she tries her hardest to be a lot stronger and to not be sucked in by the hold her has over her. All she wants is to fix the wrongs that she’s done, but in order to do that she needs to get Caleb to listen to her, but still that’s such a hard feat.
I do think that both of them suit each other well and that their personalities match each other perfectly, if anything they ground each other, but it is heart-breaking having to watch Juliet go through everything that Caleb is throwing at her.
There was a couple of things that didn’t add up for me and if anything I would love to have more from it, for example it was Juliet’s roommate who got involved and helped Olivia do her best to take down Caleb, yet surely when it came to Juliet informing Caleb of what actually went down, she didn’t tell him the full truth. If that was me, I’d be going ahead and telling them every little detail so that they could see the whole picture, yet for some reason Juliet never did.
Another thing that stood out to me was the fact along with the notes and strange deliveries why didn’t Juliet tell Caleb about the knife she found because whilst it’s clear it was a threat, maybe he might have listened to her more if he realised that someone actually is trying to send some sort of message.
One last thing is that Juliet found some files missing from the archives, surely it would have been a good idea to bring this up to Caleb considering this might be a clue into solving all of Caleb’s problems, but instead, she just went ahead and kept quiet.
Maybe if some of these were wrote about in more detail, I think that it would have had much more of an impact to the story.
Other than that, I think it was a gripping story and I’m intrigued to see what’s going to happen next considering yet again Roxy has left this book on another cliff-hanger.
Honestly when I say you don’t want to miss out on this series, I’m not kidding, it’s just so mesmerizing and gripping.
Caleb is dead set on getting revenge on Juliet, he can’t believe that the one person he opened his heart too could hurt him so badly, but what he doesn’t realise is that there is a hell of a lot more going on than he realises, but he won’t listen to Juliet even though she could be the key to most of the problems he’s got on his plate.
He knows the one thing that he has control over is her body, the way she reacts to him, so deciding on using that to punish her, it’s only just the start.
With time running out, Caleb has no idea what to do, but he knows he’s got to start thinking of something quickly.
Finding out the truth of what actually happened, Juliet can’t believe that her roommate would stoop to such low levels in order to hurt her. Deciding it’s best to just get away from her, she ends up moving in with one of the designers at work, yet things start getting weird for Juliet when she starts getting poems and crushed up flowers as presents. Clearly someone is targeting her and she knows that something isn’t right, but with Caleb not wanting to listen to her about anything, she decides to keep everything to herself.
Will they be able to find each other again or are they set to be ruined forever??? Will they get to the bottom of the problems they both have or are matters set to get even worse???
