I’ve been following Carrie Aarons’ work or just over a year and with each book I’ve read I have seen her grow with her writing is so many ways but I’ve also found it so refreshing as I never know what I’m going to get from her. Yet, I always seem to enjoy her stories, but friends/enemies books are one of my few favourites that I love to read and whenever Carrie writes one of these types of books they are never the same and there’s always so much more going on, but no matter what you end up being sucked in from the very first page.
This time I was sucked into the story, I loved the characters, the dynamics between them, the plot, it was something that could lift up your mood. However, the one thing that did stand out to me that did put me off it a little is that every now and then both Swayer and Blair would keep going over the reasons as to why they are getting revenge on each other or making their lives a living hell. Don’t get me wrong, I can understand in the beginning when you’re getting to read it from both characters as they have different views of how everything went down, but still for it to be repeated quite a bit afterwards just didn’t work for me. Other than that, I loved every minute of it.
I honestly did feel for Blair because even though she should have just told Swayer everything and did essentially end their friendship, I can understand why she did what she did because anyone in her position would just be way too hurt and wouldn’t be able to look at that one friend in the same light again, especially when they’re your crush.
I did love how Swayer had a soft side though and you did get glimpses of it when you least expected it.
I honestly had no idea which direction this book would go in, but at the same time I enjoyed the journey I was taken on.
I’m super excited to keep on reading Carrie’s work, she just knows how to write sweet contemporary romance books.
I would recommend checking out this book if you’re the type of person that loves friends/enemies books.
Blair couldn’t believe her luck when a round of spin the bottle landed on her crush but mainly best friend Swayer, normally this would have been the typical night that she would have been jumping for, but she’s still reeling from what she found in Swayer’s bedroom two days ago. A pro and con’s list about whether or not he should consider to pursue her. It broke her heart and instead of getting to have one earth shattering kiss with Swayer, she chooses in that moment to say goodbye to their friendship even though they’ve been best friends for years.
But after that fateful night which ended pretty badly, Swayer vowed to make her life a living hell.
Now two years later, Swayer kept on his promise, but what he’s not expecting is for the physical appearance and change in Blair when they all start their Senior year. Blair isn’t backing down, she’s standing up for herself, but whilst they both go after the two things they love, things start to take an unexpected turn.
Will Sawyer ever find out why Blair ended their friendship years ago?? Will Blair ever tell him what drove her to do the things she did??? Will they ever find a truce????
