Every book of Melanie Harlow’s that I have picked up I have found myself loving, the passion that she has for writing always shows within the story and you can’t help but fall in love with her work. I know for a fact that what I’m about to say will make people have mixed opinions, however, for me I found the lead female character Hannah really annoying and getting on my last nerve. Don’t get me wrong she is such a sweet girl and I know that she has been through a lot, but honestly, eighteen months is a long time. I found Hannah to constantly be complaining in her head about something or other and it just made me think, I get that your hurting and that you had a life planned out but surly she would have been focusing more on her daughter instead of drowning herself in guilt. Losing someone is never easy, hell, I’ve been through it and I know for a fact that it hurts. However, you have to keep going and living because at the end of the day that is what they would have wanted.
I found Wes to be such a total sweetheart, don’t get me wrong he did make mistakes and screw up but I still thought that he was so sweet from the very first moment he appeared in the book. I feel for him because he goes through a lot in this book and the fact that he’s harbouring a ten-year long crush on the one girl who is supposedly off-limits. I don’t blame him for going for it when he has the chance, but I do love the fact that he is such a shy guy, it makes him all that much sweeter. Throughout this book it’s pretty much a roller-coaster of emotions and honestly, I had no idea how this book was going to turn out but I still think that Melanie did such an amazing job with it, even though I couldn’t stand the lead female character. But honestly, I think that you should go ahead and pick up this book and give it a read.
