I’ve been following Lizzie James for a while, but I’ve never actually had the chance to try her work until this book. It was the cover and blurb that drew me in as it gives you that wintery feel and you can’t help but want to sit in a big comfy chair, with a cup of hot chocolate and curl up with this book. However, I honestly have mixed reviews about the story… Don’t get me wrong, I completely understood the basics of the story and the direction it wanted to go in, but at the same time I thought it was too basic, there didn’t seem to be any thrill, adventure or whatnot… If anything it seemed to be lacking something but I really can’t put my finger on what it is. At the same time I do think that Lizzie did a great job at producing the story as I know it’s not easy to write as I’ve never written a book, so I do appreciate all the hard work that went into creating this story.
I found that there was little bits that just didn’t add up at times and to me it seemed like it had been rushed over a little. I understand that not everything is going to be perfect before a release and that there will be a few typos here and there, but the couple of bits I found had a bit of an impact on the story.
I also was able to predict what was going to happen from the first chapter, I really dislike books that don’t leave you trying to figure out what’s going to happen, it giving you the chase, and I do think that because of that it did let the story down, but that’s just my personal experience.
I did like the overall plot and thought into the story, but honestly I don’t think this is for me.
I know for a fact that there’s going to be a lot of people out there that think my opinion isn’t that great as they would have fallen in love with the story, but at the same time we’re all allowed to think differently, we’re all allowed to have our own opinions. But I do strongly encourage you to give this book a try as for all you know, you may discover that you think differently than what I do, or you may find a new author whose work you can just go and devour.
Lauren has been in love with Thomas ever since they were teenagers, but he’s never reciprocated the same feelings back. Starting to get fed up of all the girls that walk in and out of his bedroom she finally decides that it’s time to move on, but this just makes their friendship slip away.
Will Thomas realise what’s in front of him or is he always set to see her as just his best friend???
