If you’ve read the previous books in this series then you’ll have seen how Conor is but at the same time you’ll have seen just the outskirts of him, but with this book you get to see all the ins and outs of what goes on through his mind. Shauna McDonnell has really poured her heart and soul into this book and it shows within her writing, there’s so many emotions that take place and you can’t help but feel them all. Whilst this book has been coming a long time, it’s honestly worth the wait as you can’t help but get lost in the story. It genuinely feels like you’re there in person as the characters and I seriously love that it’s so gripping and raw. You will honestly feel so much and there’s a lot of heartache, so be warned now if you’re a crier then Shauna will most likely make you cry with the words and the heart-breaking events that take place, so make sure you have tissues at the ready.
It honestly feels like yesterday that I started reading this series, and the journey’s that have taken place have all been incredible but grip worthy. I’ve loved getting to experience all of the boy’s experiences and lives, I know that they’ve all had such difficult adventures, but still they’ve done everything in stride, despite how much it’s hurt them at times.
I am honestly shocked and impressed how much Shauna has grown as a writer, she cares about what her readers want, and then goes off and does that but in her own incredible way.
I thought that she did a great job at creating both Cassie and Conor, she managed to perfect them in such a way that I could visualise them. I’ve been intrigued by them both since the beginning, but I honestly had no idea how she would tell their stories, but she gave them both the justice they deserved.
I honestly can’t fault anything that she did with this book, I thought she nailed everything perfectly. She is extremely talented, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us.
Conor had everything once upon a time, his career taking off, he was engaged to the love of his life and he had the most precious baby girl who was only a couple of months old. Yet the moment both of his amazing girls got ripped away from him, he couldn’t see the light anymore. It hurt him so badly and no one else seemed to understand what he was going through, so him not being a man of so many words, did what he always did, be there when everyone needed him, but the minute he’s alone he wallows in self-pity and hating what his life has become.
However, the minute Cassie comes stumbling into his life, he starts feeling things that he never thought he’d feel again, but still in his mind he feels so guilty for it as it’s like he’s cheating.
Whilst Cassie isn’t known to keep quiet, she has her own story to tell, but will only do so in her own time, so when Conor finds it out for himself, he can’t get over how incredible she is.
Will Conor be able to put the past where it needs to be instead of letting it consume the present??
Is Cassie the person he’s been gifted in order to help live life again???
