Lyssa Cole is a new author to me and this is the first time of me reading her work. I’m so glad that I got the chance to because honestly, this book was amazing. You are first drawn in by the cover and then the story itself. Lyssa knows how to keep her audience gripped to the story and not lose interest at all. If you haven’t read any of her work before then I suggest that this be the book that you start with. I know for a fact that I will be reading more of her work as it’s pretty unique.
I really did feel for Emma, even though she has grew up with her family around her she can’t seem to catch a break. Emma knows that family is important, plus she has got a list of rules that are pretty much imprinted into her brain…. The rules are simple and easy to follow, Emma’s mom reckons that if both Emma and her sister follow the rules that she put in place then that will lead her to a life of happiness….. Surly anyone would think that it’s a bit barmy considering Emma is a grown woman, doing well for herself in her job, but nope for some reason her mother and sister have to keep involving themselves in her life and are constantly trying to set her up with someone. Emma’s been following the rules for as long as she can remember but she doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere (she’s not a saint and has slipped up on the rules every now and then, but then again no one is perfect). Yet, even though her sister follows the rules things haven’t exactly been all that great, but you’ll find out more about that if you pick up this amazing book. What would exactly happen if Emma goes ahead and decides to rebel against the rules? You’ll just have to wait and see how Emma’s story turns out.
