I’ve only read a couple of books by Kendall Ryan, but from the couple I’ve read I’ve been drawn in by her writing. Plus, her covers are always so eye catching that you can’t help but want to read the contents inside and this book was no exception. This time, Kendall wrote about a best friend’s brother and I honestly love those types of books which are essentially taboo, but after reading this book I can honestly see that Kendal can literally write about anything she desires. She has her own twists on everything she writes and honestly, her writing is so captivating. I was hooked onto the edge of my seat whilst reading this, I didn’t want to put the book down…. But overall I do think that Kendall did a great job. There was a couple of things where I was a little unsure of things…. For instance the title is How To Date A Younger Man, just from seeing that alone I honestly expected there to be some sort of guide or tips left by Layne about to date someone younger…. But in a way the title didn’t really add up to what happened inside… It would have been great to see the tips and guidelines that Layne thought, but you don’t.
Another thing I wasn’t sure on was that I found that Layne sometimes lacked the confidence that she tried to show everyone, meaning that she sometimes acted a little bratty…. What she had with Griffin was amazing and there’s not many guys out there that would willing drop what they’re doing at a drop of a hat and actually be there for the woman they dream of day and night. I mean look at when he offered to be her baby daddy just so that she could start off having her dreams… Okay, yes, it was offered when Layne was pretty much out of there, but still it would have been interesting seeing where that conversation would have went when they were both sober… But that didn’t happen. I just found Layne to not be as strong as I would of liked her to have been… Yet, Griffin he was amazing. I know that he was younger than her, but if anything he acted a hell of a lot older than Layne was. Plus, normally they say that females are the ones to mature quickly, but really in this case I think it’s the other way round.
Overall though, I do still think that besides the parts I was unsure of, Kendall did do a good job and I’m excited to see what else she has planned. I would recommend giving this a try though as honestly you may find things differently and discover a new author.
Layne is doing quite well for herself in life, she has amazing friends, doing well with her company and really couldn’t complain about much…. The only thing missing from her life is the man of her dreams and having a family of her own. But with the way she works and the amount of stress that comes from it, she can hardly find the time. But when her receptionist organises for her to have a massage for her birthday, her entire world changes… Little does she realise that after a few days of dreaming of the guy who gave her the most amazing massage, because of how incredible his hands felt on her she was going to see him again…. The last thing she expects is for the guy to be her best friend’s younger brother…
With sparks flying, will Layne be able to get past the unfamiliar feelings she feels whenever she looks at Griffin or are things set to get more complicated for her than she originally thought???
