If you thought you had enough to read with Man Candy and After We Fall by Melanie Harlow, then you are mistaken. If You Were Mine is another amazing read by Melanie, if you loved Quinn and Jack then I’m sure you’ll just swoon over Theo. This book is a lot different than the other two and that’s due to the fact that whilst Claire is doing the job she loves and lives in the house she loves, there is something missing from her life. She feels that she is destined to be alone and that she doesn’t have a soulmate as if she did then surly he would have found her by now. Claire’s life changes from the day she is cornered by one of her work colleagues, Claire really doesn’t want to turn up to her colleagues wedding alone and end up on the singles table, but she would much prefer telling the truth about the fact she doesn’t have a date, but unfortunately for her the pressure builds up too much inside and she blurts out that she’s got a boyfriend. At this point I felt so bad for Claire as all she wanted to do was avoid being put at the singles table for once in her life, but things get worse for her as it gets spread amongst the staff that she is seeing someone. Now what Claire needs is a miracle…..
Theo didn’t have a good upbringing but due to things that have happened in his past he now lives for the thrill’s of the adventure. He does all he can to help provide for his sister in law and his three nieces, due to his brother walking out on them a couple weeks back. He has no idea when he’ll be back, he just hopes that he will. He doesn’t make much money and he hasn’t really got a home, however his life changes when he gets a request from his job to go out and be someone’s date for an event. Both Theo and Claire are from different worlds but maybe that isn’t such a bad idea, maybe they will both be able to have an impact on each of their lives.
This is so heart warming and will pull at all of your emotions when reading, I have never been disappointed with any of Melanie’s work and I can’t wait to read more. Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading it and will fall in love with the characters.
