Now when I picked up this book I was really excited as I always am when I get to read any book in this amazing series by Addison Moore, however this book left me feeling unsure in the beginning. Now don’t get me wrong, Addison’s writing is amazing but I found myself unsure and unable to get into this book whilst I was reading the prologue and chapter one, but then as soon as I got to chapter two I was hooked. I don’t know what it was, but if I had to describe the mood or feelings I felt when I started this book I would have to say the mood was dark but the emotion was sad and depressed. However I am honestly glad that I carried on reading because Addison managed to twist and change things around and made me love this book more. I will say this though but to me this book doesn’t have the same effect as the other novels in this series but that’s okay because each book is different and has their own story to tell. Whilst I found it different from the rest I still think that this story is a strong one and that you should also go ahead and give it a read. Addison is one of the authors out there that not only writes for her readers but she also writes for her and you can clearly see it in her writing. I love it when an author is passionate about their work that it shines through.
Lucky in her eyes has always felt that she wasn’t lucky as to her everything good that pops up in life gets taken away and that she is the curse. She is at Whitney Briggs and has her ever so protective brother trying to make sure that her cherry stays intact and also the opposite gender don’t go near his baby sister. However whilst Lucky is sweet and innocent in the bedroom department her brother has no idea the life she actually lives considering he only see’s what he wants to see. There is one boy in particular that gets on Lucky’s last nerves, Lawrence..... She can’t stand him, he’s her friends big brother in a project that happens to take place between the boys and girls sorority houses. But honestly she has no idea that this year is going to be her most trying year yet.
Lawrence pretty much is a love them and leave them type, he doesn’t do relationships as to him he doesn’t see the point, his parents never lasted and he’s already sick to his stomach in terms of Rex and Scarlett. The way he lives he is pretty happy to go about Whitney Briggs campus and go find a willing girl who will happily warm his bed up. He knows for a fact that Lucky annoys the living crap out of him but he has no idea why she does, they both have this banter between them and they can pretty much get away with saying what they want and it doesn’t end up with anyone wanting to punch anyone. They have such a strange relationship but Lawrence knows he’s in trouble when Jet, Lucky’s brother pays him to pretty much be her bodyguard. Lawrence’s friends say that it’s a bad idea that he took money from Jet in order to look after his little sister but at the same time it’s an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
I will say now that a lot happens in this book and honestly some of it might shock you. It’s well worth the read though, but I do strongly suggest that you read it. I would carry on telling you what happens but honestly that would ruin the effect of the story.
