I’ve been waiting to see what would happen with Ruby and Lachlan because they’ve been flirting round each other for the better part of a year, so as you can imagine I was pretty excited to find out that Sara Ohlin had planned to tell their story and honestly, she did wonders with it. I fell in love with both of these characters back in Ellie’s story, but now getting to experience everything from their eyes, I’m literally in heaven.
It’s clear that Sara is extremely talented and with each book she just makes me fall more and more in love with her work, she just seems to know what readers want and manages to grip them to her incredible stories.
I always look forward to giving her work a read because with each book it’s so different, I can never guess how the story will develop, it’s like Sara has fun keeping us on the edges of our seats. This book was done amazingly, I loved getting to see how both Ruby and Lachlan felt about each other, it’s clear that they both have their reasons for not going ahead and making it known that they want to claim one another, but still, I also love the direct approach that Ruby gives off. It’s like she isn’t afraid to go after what she wants, okay she may have waited a while in terms of just jumping for it with Lachlan but even still with the way she does things, you can’t help but fall in love with her honesty.
Then you’ve got Lachlan who appears all tall and brooding and takes everything seriously, but then underneath he has a heart of gold, he wants the best for Ruby even if that means he’s not with her, but still he’s the heart of their community and considering of how far he’s come, you can’t help but love him.
I love how the story developed and honestly, I wouldn’t have anything changed when it came to this book, I just loved every minute.
I’m super excited to see what else Sara has planned next, but then again that’s how hooked I am on her writing.
Seriously, I’d recommend giving her work a try because you can’t help but love the stories or characters.
Years ago, Lachlan got the chance to meet Ruby, but even though he got to have only a short encounter with her, he never forgot about her. So, imagine his surprise when Ruby showed up 2 years ago and decided she was looking for a place to live, and he couldn’t feel any happier when he realised she wanted to be his tenant.
Fast forward to the present and after them both keeping each other at arm’s length whilst flirting around each other, he can’t believe the words out of Ruby’s mouth. The fact that she feels the same as him, he is so amazingly happy that he does his best to be a gentleman to her as the last thing he wants is to take advantage of her in her tipsy state. With the promise of turning back up tomorrow night and making true on the promises he whispers to her; his heart is shattered when he thinks that Ruby has forgotten about their precious moment the night before. Instead of confronting her about it, he chooses to go ahead and keep his heart sealed off and just ignore her because he can’t take getting hurt. However, will he realise that he may have the wrong end of the stick??
Will both Lachlan and Ruby actually get a chance at being happy together??
Who is behind attempting at destroying Lachlan’s pub/ dream??? Will they be successful???
