I love just getting to dive into one of Lila Monroe’s books as I honestly never know what to expect with them, but I know for a fact that I’ll always enjoy them and this time was no different. I also love how she always manages to intertwine her characters with every book and I find that it makes the books stand out more and even be more special as I love getting glimpses of what the previous characters are up to and seeing how their lives are coming together.
I thought that Callie was an intriguing character as she wants to go after her dream and make a living out of it, yet she’s having to prove to people constantly that she shouldn’t waste her time and that she’s not getting any younger and needs to settle down and that’s just coming from her own family. I honestly can’t help but feel for her because if anything your family should support you in anything you set out to do, but the fact that hers don’t is pretty harsh as truthfully those that are trying to get into the makeup industry know what they’re on about as it’s a pretty big industry to get into. But surely she wouldn’t have been going after her dream if she didn’t know anything about what she had to do, I still think that she is brave especially what she had to put up with people from her family and at her day job.
Dash was a different type of character, as on the outside he shows people one thing, mainly that he’s this playboy and he’s not wanting to settle down anytime soon, yet on the inside he wants to find that missing piece of him and in all honesty you can’t really blame him, but he wants to do things in his own time and not by the hand of his grandmother.
Overall, I do think that both Callie and Dash were an interesting choice for each other and their needs, and I honestly can’t fault the story, but there is just one thing that I wish that we would have been able to have known more when it came to Callie sorting out her Aunt’s belongings and flat. I get that Callie was the one tasked with sorting everything out as no one else in the family did, but still considering she was inventing stories of where her aunt was it would have been interesting to see if she gets caught out in the end.
Otherwise, I think that Lila did a great a job and I’m excited to see what else she has planned next for this series.
Callie is wanting to work in the make-up industry, but she knows that in order to get her make-up out there, that she needs to find an investor or even impress some of the big companies out there so that they will even take a glance in her direction, but as luck would have it, life doesn’t want to work out for her and she ends up losing her precious samples she made to the track of the subway thanks to getting bumped into by this mysterious guy. But when he speaks to her she honestly can’t believe the nerve of the guy as it’s clear to her that he doesn’t have to worry about anything as he has all the money that can buy him anything he wants. Yet, what she doesn’t realise is how wrong she actually is about Dash and when he offers her a proposition that she can’t exactly refuse, will she actually go ahead with what he wants if it means that she’ll get the money she needs to start up her company????
What will Dash do when it becomes apparent that his grandmother is scheming and cuts him off???
