I have read pretty much everything that Jessica Wayne has written and have loved every minute of her writing, she writes stories from the heart and they will always be so powerful. With each book you read you are always left wanting more and she has done the same with this book, now baring in mind I’ve read the other books that written after this time period, but putting that to the side even if I hadn’t, I would still say that this book is worth reading because it draws you in, only to leave you wanting to see what happens with these characters. But still, I would recommend reading the books that follow on because this is literally just the start, and Jessica knows for a fact what to write to have you gripping onto the edge of your seats.
I honestly couldn’t fault what happens in this book, if anything I feel really bad for both Coral and Armes, they didn’t do anything wrong, and after realising what was waiting out there for them you can’t help but want things to work for the paths that they each want. I do love how it was Queen Iris who I just wanted to punch after first reading of her and what she wanted in life, Jessica always manages to make sure there’s at least one person you want to either hit or scream at.
Overall I really enjoyed the book, loved the characters and thought that it was such a great story for those that are just starting this series, I would highly recommend giving it a try.
There is only one person at a time who is the rightful person who can go ahead and look after the life core, but it comes at a cost… For Coral’s whole life she has been groomed for this moment and now it’s finally arrived, but she’s not happy about the choice considering it’s only a way for her mother to stay in power. What she doesn’t realise is that her life is about to change and whether it’s for the better or worse will only tell in time. Knowing that there’s going to be a few other contenders in the line to protect the life core, the last thing she was expecting was for her path to derail and makes her lose focus of why she’s there….
Armes has decided to go ahead and step up to protect the life core, it’s something that he’s proud to do, but his dream of what he wants changes when he meets the beautiful Coral, he would love nothing more than to go ahead and drop everything just to be with her and run of to chase their dreams… but everything gets shattered by the one and only Queen Iris… Will everything work out how Queen Iris wants, or will she risk the wrath of everyone?? Who will be chosen at the champion for the life core???
