This is my first book by K.R. Reese and honestly, I thought it was such a great book to start with. It’s a short quick cosy read, it’s perfect for a warm sunny day when you’re out relaxing either in your garden or if you’ve gone away on holiday. I found that the story flowed beautifully and I couldn’t get enough of this, I just wanted to keep reading. I didn’t find any faults with the writing, if anything it was just perfect. I don’t why its taken me so long to discover this author’s work, but I know for a fact that I will be reading more of it from now on as it’s pretty amazing. The one thing that I thought could have been done a little better is I would have liked to have seen how the dinner at Madison’s parents house went, she mentions how she only sees her brother every few months, so it would have been nice to see how the atmosphere was when he was back there. Plus, it would have been nice to see what Madison’s family thought of Shayne, I know that her parents remember him from when he was younger, but it would have been nice to have seen that scene unfold. Other than that, I couldn’t fault it. If you’ve not read K.R. Reese’s work, then you should rectify that and this book would be the perfect start.
Madison has had a tough few months, after losing her sister in one of the worst ways imaginable, it still haunts her and it seems like there’s no escape. She would never leave her hometown because it’s all she knows and whilst she feels trapped in a way it’s the one place she knows she’s safe. She has been doing what she can to get by but for some reason she can’t seem to shake the numbness and the pain that she goes through daily when she’s left to her own devices. No one has really been there for her or have been willing o do anything to talk about all the things that are weighing down Madison, not until someone from her past walks back into her life and it’s the last person she expected.
