After reading the first three books in this series I was intrigued to see what Roxy Sloane would do for Nero’s story as back in the first three you got glimpses of him, but this time you get to see things from his side. It’s clear that he’s done a lot of growing up but still, this book you’re hit with a lot of twists that I honestly didn’t see coming. I thought Nero was a good character, yes he has the family business that he needs to focus on and to make sure that everyone who is his family is taken care of, but at the same time he does have a soft side to him that when you do see it’s pretty great.
Lily was interesting to say the least, whilst I thought she did make a good fit with Nero I just wish she would have had a backbone and actually communicated with him because had she done that in the first place then she wouldn’t have ended up in some of the situations that she found herself in. But that being said I did tend to find that Lily annoyed me a fair bit, don’t get me wrong she was a nice person but at the same time she just irked me.
However I know that no matter what happens whether it’s in life or in books not everything is ever going to be 100% perfect.
Overall I do think that Roxy did a good job at this and found it to be a good read, I’m excited to see what Nero has in store next, but I’m hoping that Lily actually grows as a character too.
Nero and Lily used to be inseparable, but after her dad did the wrong thing and double crossed Nero’s family it resulted in Lily and her family going into hiding. Now ten years later and life has changed massively for the two of them, Nero is in charge of the family business after having taken over for his dad whilst he’s inside thanks to Lily’s dad and Lily is doing whatever she can to make ends meet. So when they both set eyes on each other they both are shocked to their very core.
Lily knows that no matter what now that Nero has found her, he’s not going to stop, so she does the only thing she know and that’s go to him.
Nero is wanting to make an example of her after what he went through, but he’s also trying to get his business plans approved but with having little success. When Lily makes a plea to him about wanting protection for her and her brother, he has no idea what to do, but when it becomes apparent that she may be the key to getting things to work in his favour, he takes a leap of faith in the girl that broke his heart.
Will she be able to make true on her promise of getting him what he wants or is she clearly just buying time???
When the FBI turns up and demands that she helps them, will history repeat itself or will she not double cross Nero????
