After reading previous works by this author but under a different name, I was excited to see how this book would turn out considering this is a different style to her usual writing. However, after giving this a read I have to say I was left a little disappointed as it just seemed like it was a little too fast paced, you was left with wondering about a few things. I understand that Poppy St. James wrote from the heart, but to me and I already know that a lot of people won’t agree with me for this, but I honestly think that maybe Sweet Romance isn’t exactly for her. I’m not saying that her writing is bad, it’s just that it’s clear that there needs to be a little more thought into what’s written.
I’m happy to keep reading her work as honestly she may end up improving over time with each book.
I thought Luke was a great guy, he wanted to succeed and make a name for his family, yet whilst he thought he had everything it’s clear that Charlotte has clearly impacted his life a lot. I know he’s scared about being hurt again because so far all the women other than his sister have walked out on him even though he asked them to stay. So I can understand why he’s hesitant.
Charlotte on the other hand, I thought she was an interesting character, she comes off as spoiled, but then you can see that she changes and starts to adapt to how life is where she is stranded.
Overall though, I do think it was a good effort from Poppy, but had it not been for a couple of things, then this would have been amazing to me.
I honestly have no idea what’s next for this author in terms of this genre but I know that I’ll be looking forward to it and hopefully seeing if she can impress me.
Years ago Luke tried out the city life and whilst it wasn’t for him, he knew he had to go because he wanted to be happy with the girl he thought he loved. However, when it came time for him to return home to help save his family’s business she walked out on him.
Now when primped up spoiled rich girl Charlotte enters his town after having her posh car break down on her, he can’t help but feel riled up with her around.
While it seems that both of them may have misjudged the other in the beginning, what will Luke think when Charlotte makes suggestions on how Luke can market his business but also get his brand out there???
Will they be able to tolerate each other or will they still be clashing like no tomorrow?
And what will Charlotte make of the small town life that she’s currently stranded in, will she choose to stay or leave?
