This is the first book of Jessica Hawkins’ that I had picked up to read, but I had been curious about her work for a while and now that I’ve picked it up and dived in for a taste…. WOW. I’m just shocked at how overpowering her words actually are. Jessica has such a way with words that they just seem to reach out and demand your attention and honestly, that’s pretty amazing for an author to be able to achieve that just with the words that they have written. I found myself able to follow the storyline and not find myself getting confused at any point, if anything, I may have wanted to shout at the one character (Nathan) but if you pick up this book, you’ll understand why I wanted to do that at certain points. As I was reading through, I genuinely thought that this book would go in one direction, but honestly, the way that Jessica wrote and added in all the twists, I found myself completely shocked. The ending that happened was honestly one that I didn’t want to happen but that was due to the fact that I really did feel that Sadie should have gotten her happy ever after.
Sadie has been with Nathan for seven years, you’d think that life would be perfect and complete for them considering that they are married, have their own careers and live in their own apartment. However, that’s not the case with this book, it seems that her marriage is being tested but she has no idea what’s going on or why things seem to be going downhill for the past couple of months. All that she wishes is that things were no longer complicated and that she could have her husband back. However, things get even more complicated for her when she sets her eyes on her neighbour, Finn. I would go into more detail, but if I do that then I will spoil the book for you and honestly, there’s no fun in that. If you haven’t read this book, then I suggest you go ahead and grab it as honestly you will not be left disappointed, I know for a fact that I’ll be picking up more of Jessica’s work from now on.
