I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book considering Chasity is a new character that gets brought in as in the previous books this is the first I’ve heard of her, but still I loved that she had a big impact to the community considering she grew up in Mulbury. I thought the way that Amanda Siegrist added her made so much sense, plus with having Stu’s story being told too it made it that more special as he’s been in the previous books but it was amazing getting to experience his side as you can only guess at how someone’s life is from the outside in a small way, yet when it’s their turn and they’re the heart of the story you get to find out so much more of what makes them tick, what makes them happy and to me I love getting to explore that side of the characters.
I thought both Stu and Chasity were great characters, and I was able to capture everything perfectly in my head as if I was experiencing everything as them, but then again with Amanda’s writing she’s an expert at creating stories that she can just bring to life.
With each book I read, I see that Amanda’s writing improves so much, even though she doesn’t need to, but still she does it in a way that you can’t help but love each word that she has carefully crafted together.
I loved every aspect of this story and thought that it was very well crafted together, there was a couple of things that stood out to me was that I thought Stu’s dad was a complete and utter idiot. Don’t get me wrong, it made the story that more interesting in terms of dramatic effects, it’s just that with how horrible the guy was and how big a part he played in the book I just don’t feel like he learned or even changed his ways in the best interest.
The other thing is that I don’t like how Stu’s mom was a pushover, I get that she wanted the best for her family and wanted both her husband and son to get along, but the fact that she would constantly tell Stu that he needed to be the one that put everything to the side and talk to his dad just wasn’t fair. It’s not a child’s job to go ahead and make niceties with their parents if they’re the ones in the wrong. All Stu wanted was for his dad to accept that he didn’t want to follow in politics, that he was happy owning the bar and to just see him for him. Yet, his mom whilst she understood that Stu should be his own person, she never turned round and told her husband that he needed to stop pushing something onto him and actually accept him for him… but she just seemed to give into everything her husband demanded instead of taking care of her son and his feelings.
Other than that, I loved everything and just wanted things to work out for him as he did deserve happiness and a family that wasn’t going to judge him.
Overall, I am super thrilled with this series and I can’t stop reading, I can’t wait to dive into the next one. I’d highly recommend that you give it a try as these are just the perfect wintery reads.
Fifteen years ago, he made a mistake. He let the one girl who he truly loved get away and whilst she didn’t run very far as she lives in town, he can’t help but hate himself for it.
Now the proud owner of his pub which he inherited from his late uncle; Stu couldn’t be happier as business is doing well for itself. The only thing missing is the girl that got away, but due to his mistake he highly doubts that he’ll ever get the chance to fix things. Yet when one bar fight ends up with him needing stitches Stu can’t believe how beautiful Chasity is all grown up, considering for the last fifteen years he’s kept far apart from her as he can’t believe what he ruined. Yet after taking a hit to the head, he finally gets his head out of his ass and decides that he’s not going to give up, he’s going to do his best to win her back because she is the missing piece and refuses to let his dad overrule his life and dictate what he can and cannot do.
Will he be able to get the girl that got away or is his chance over before he even tries??
Will Chasity give him the time of day when he tries his best to explain himself and for why he did what he did all those years ago??
Is romance in the air between these two or is it set to be a disaster??
