Out of the last three books that Melanie Harlow has written, I’d have to say that this one was my favourite by far. I genuinely had no idea what to expect from the story, but I fell in love with it right away. I thought that the characters were amazingly witty and charming, but they both had such amazing personalities which just meshed well together. I love that they still had this amazing connection between them even though they weren’t as close or saw each other as often as they did when they were in school, but they did keep up their friendship as well as any person could during long distance.
I have to say that I think this is the book that showcases Melanie’s writing and the passion she has for it out of all her books, I can see that this is her strongest book to date and that she’s written for her readers.
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to connect properly with one of her books and I’m just glad that she’s made me be able to connect with the story. Overall, I do think that Melanie has done a great job with this story and I found myself gripped from the beginning. I loved both Hutton and Felicity as their friendship was honestly next level and I loved how no matter what they both would always be there for each other and if anything that’s just awesome in itself.
I honestly can’t fault this story and I just loved how it developed all the way to the end, I know that in life things aren’t exactly straight forward and that’s how it goes in this book too.
Hutton and Felicity have been best friends for years, they were inseparable in high school, but now that they are both older and have their own lives, they’ve not exactly seen each other as much as they used too. With Hutton back in town for a little while, they use this as their time to catch up and start spending time together. However after Felicity begs Hutton to attend their 10 year reunion and he refuses, she is left with no choice but to go ahead and use their old code so that he will turn up when she gets herself into a little bit of trouble.
With neither of them wanting to confess to the other that they both had feelings for each other back in school, they both jump around their feelings because it’s easier for them to hide how they feel. After Hutton saves her from the reunion everything isn’t exactly short lived for long, because by morning everyone is round wanting to know if the news is true of them being engaged… So when Hutton needs her help in trying to convince everyone that this is all true, will she agree to what he’s proposing???
How will they both make of things when it’s clear that Hutton won’t be staying once his lease is up and that he’ll be returning to New York????
