I was excited to carry on reading this series by Meg Anne because I have enjoyed the first two books and I know that Meg is the queen at when it comes to throwing massive surprises at you. After a slow start in the first chapter (it took me a little while to get used and back into the story as it had been a while since I had read this series), I finally got caught back up and was fully engaged with the book. You may remember Kieran and how at first he seemed like an okay guy, I even actually felt for the guy because he had walked away from his family in search of finding the girl (Effie) from his dreams. However, now after reading through this book I actually want to punch the guy, I mean he is such a coward and doesn’t seem to understand the word no. But I have a feeling that me wanting to punch the guy is the type of reaction that Meg was looking for from her readers and if it was, then she has delivered perfectly. Lucian has become my all time favourite, you can’t help but love him the more you read on about him. Effie is sweet as always and you can’t help but love her feisty personality. Other than the slow start and wanting to punch Kieran, I honestly can’t fault this book or for how Meg has written it. In fact, she’s made me excited to get my hands on the next one because the ending seriously has thrown me completely. If you’ve not checked out this series yet, I highly recommend you do and if you’ve read The Chosen Series then you’ll know that this is well worth the read from that alone.
Effie is determined to find a way to control how her visions affect her, and after the last one she is set on trying to decipher them because within them holds the key to what is to come. But this time, she needs to think quickly as it looks like there’s a new evil out there, but this is set to be so much worse than the Corrupter. So after deciding to send word out to the other realms to see if anyone else has noticed anything unusual or if there’s been any attacks, they go off in search to see if they can try to decipher what the attacks truly mean. However, with all this happening and their world on the verge of being turned purely into evil, Effie has so much more going on her plate, she’s got a huge crush on Lucian (her guardian) and is trying to deal with all her feelings set around him, but then she’s also having to deal with Kieran’s endless advances whilst he’s also full on insulting her. It’s honestly a lot to handle for one person and hopefully she manages a way to figure everything out before it’s too late, but a lot or surprises are set to derail everything….
