Back in The Rebel you got to see a little of how things were with Alex, but there wasn’t too much detail considering that book was mainly to do with Eden’s story, however when I heard that Kendall Ryan was writing a story for Alex, I was excited because he did intrigue me back in the first book and being honest I thought it would have been nice to see how things were from his point of view. I have to say though that Kendall did a great job with this because I felt more connected with Alex and it was incredible getting to experience things from his eyes. I believe that Alex deserved to be happy and whilst he did kind of mess up what both he and Eden have, it would have been a shame if he spent the rest of his life just wondering around and not having that one special person that can make him happy.
In this book a lot happens and walls are removed from the exterior that Alex hides behind, it’s like he wants the outside world to see one person, but in reality because he’s so used to being someone that everyone expects him to be that he feels he can’t be the real him. It’s a shame really because everyone should be allowed to be who they want to be, be able to do something without being judge or ridiculed for it, but it’s good to see that Alex learns a lot in his story and you get to see him grow as a character.
I loved every minute of this story and thought Kendall wrote it perfectly, it was well thought out and I loved how things just progressed. I can’t fault a single thing, if anything this book made me fall in love with the series even more.
If you’re a fan of either sports romance or just love hockey, then this book is for you and I honestly recommend giving it a try as Kendall’s writing is just super gripping.
The last place that Alex wants to be is at his ex-girlfriend and boss’ engagement party, yet that’s exactly where he finds himself. With him messing up things with Eden when they were together, he’s now hoping to keep out of sight and just mingle in the shadows until he’s ready to go home… However, when he spies Aspen (Eden’s assistant) on her own in a corner, he can’t help but go and make sure she’s okay. It’s clear to him that she’s been through her own hurt, when he hears of her struggles, his heart can’t help but break a little because it’s unfair for her to be homeless and heartbroken. When he sees an opportunity that he may be able to help her for the summer, he jumps at it. When he sees that he’s able to be himself around her and that they both have a lot in common, will things develop between the two of them??? Or will the warnings from Eden play on Aspen’s mind and she’ll do her best to avoid him? The off season for hockey with them both being at the Cabin is going to be a long few weeks, will they both make the most of the time they have???
