Whenever I pick up or think of one of Claire Marta’s books, I usually think of one thing… that it’s going to be something insanely twisted as that’s how her mind works. Yet, when I picked up this book, I couldn’t get an exact feel from it as from the cover alone it just gives off that impression that she’s decided to knock things up a bit, so I knew for a fact that I was jumping into the unknown but something that is nothing like her previous work. Honestly, after reading this book, I fell in love with Claire’s writing even more. From first discovering her books up to her recent ones, I have to say that her writing has improved so much and she’s grown as an author. Whilst I love her crazy demonic side, it was amazing getting to experience the sweet angst, heart felt read. It shows that she has got another side but at the same time it shows that she can essentially try any genre and nail it perfectly.
I know for a fact that a lot of readers are going to be shocked when it comes to this book, one mainly as I think it’s her best one yet, but also because there’s so much unknown you’re left wondering what will she do next. It does have some of her crazy twists that she always uses, but they’re so different from the normal ones.
Overall, I love how Claire has taken Christmas, took a twist and made it into something she can be proud of. The story is so mesmerising, that you can’t help but get lost into the story.
I loved every second of it and thought that it was amazing to see something so different from Claire, I literally can’t fault it and I’m super excited for you all to give it a read and experience the little joy and crazy side of Claire.
Lyra has never known who her parents are, left alone on someone’s doorstep as a baby, she ended up settling into the little village but was still considered an outsider. With only showing a little bit of magic and causing a lot of mishaps, she ends up being tied to a tree and being left for the beast thanks to everyone voting in the village. With Lyra on the verge of death, she’s rescued by this little blue spirit, Jack. While fighting for her life, she’s taken to where King Nick lives in his realm. However, with Nick having no idea who she is or what to do about her, he keeps her as close as he can. Yet when the most strangest things start happening and Lyra ends up being out in the forest, no one understands what’s going on.
It’s clear that there’s chemistry between both Nick and Lyra, yet will either of them make a move or will Nick be too distracted with the Pale Lady possibly making her move to strike against all the realm????
