I’ve read a few books of Q.B. Tyler’s and I’ve loved every single one of them, she has a way at taking a taboo subject or a unique situation that you wouldn’t exactly find normal and turning it into her own story. And with this book, there’s no exception…. she’s taken a completely taboo topic and thrown her own twist on it.
Taboo is one of those subjects that can cause quite a bit of drama or debate, but unless it’s done right, I don’t see an issue with it. I’ve not read a lot of taboo books, but I’m always up for trying something once. I can already tell that there’s going to be a lot of discussions on this book on whether the whole concept or story is wrong or right, but honestly before judging it, why not give it a read and then make your mind up on if you agree, but some people have to remember, whilst this can happen in real life, at the minute this is just the ideas of a writer who has poured her heart and soul out to bring you this story.
You have a forbidden taboo age gap romance but that’s not how it all started you have a seven-year old girl who’s been through so much in all a matter of one night. The next minute she’s been taken from everything she’s ever known but after latching onto her rescuer, there’s no way she’s going to be able to handle life if she gets taken away from him. That all seems pretty normal and honestly you can’t really find any fault with it. However, fast forward ten years later and that’s when everything changes, instead of the sweet seven-year old, all you’ve got now is two sets of lust that’s being hidden by both characters and whilst they’re meant to not have any of these feelings as she’s meant to see her rescuer as a *daddy* figure, that’s not exactly the case. I can understand why this would be a complete and utter no go area for some people, but for me at the end of the day you can’t help who you end up lusting/ loving after, plus there was never anything wrong about the whole concept. Yes, it’s weird, but honestly as there’s no bloodline’s linking either character together, so truthfully, I don’t see anything wrong. I think that Q.B. Tyler really did a great job with this and you can tell that she’s a talented writer just from reading her work as her passion shines through her words.
Maddie went through a lot when she was just seven-years old, never did she think that her life, her home and her family would be taken away from her in all of one night. Luckily for her, someone came to her rescue Cal, and in the first moment she met him, she felt a pull to him, there was no words explaining how it was possible, but she knew she would be safe in his arms.
Cal’s life changed forever at the age of twenty-three, one minute he’s living on his own and then all of a sudden he can’t seem to let go of Maddie, the little girl he rescued back at her home.
Fast forward ten years and life is a lot different; he is still looking after Maddie as he always vowed to do that, and he will do anything to look after her, but he’s fighting the lust he feels for her…. To him it’s wrong and it’s one path he should never look down considering he’s seen her as a daughter for the entire time he’s had her living with him, but with her fighting to push past the boundaries in place, will it all be worth the fight, the risk, or is it just wrong on too many levels?
I would say more, but honestly, you should give this a read for yourself and make up your own mind.
