After each book in this series, you’re always left with more questions than answers, but whilst that can be annoying for some, I love it because it makes me excited for the next book in the series. I love how Brooke Summers has managed to surprise me with every turn with each book and half of the time I’m not expecting some things but still the reaction of having them in the book makes it so worth it.
This book was just an incredible read and I was surprised at the turn of events, Brooke knows how to keep us on our toes massively, but I honestly have no idea where she manages to find all the ideas she puts into her books, but no matter what, I love every second of them.
I loved how we got to explore things from Finn’s perspective, he’s always been supportive of his younger sister Makenna so it’s interesting getting to see how he’ll go to extreme lengths to protect her. It’s clear that ever since he was shot a few months back which led him into a coma that something has changed inside him and having his family worried about him makes it even sweeter as so far seeing how things have gone on within their world not everything is as it seems… yet family is important… well to most people.
In this book we see things a whole lot differently considering Destiny learns out in such a way that her family isn’t as what it seems, but still, I think that Destiny makes a good addition to the story and that she’s well suited for Finn as he needs something to bring him back from the darkness.
I honestly can’t fault this story, but then again, I never can with Brooke’s writing and I’m excited to see what happens with Jade because I know that things can’t be easy for her.
This is honestly such a gripping series, so if you’ve only just started it or are thinking about it, I’d go ahead and do so as honestly you won’t want to put it down once you start as Brooke is honestly so talented.
Finn’s angry at the way his family did things in terms of his dad, the last thing he expected when he woke up from his coma was that his dad was dead and that he’d be unable to go and bury him. To make things even worse for him, his one cousin (Jade) is serving time in jail for something she didn’t do (as well as leave the state) and after her getting in touch due to her having some information in regards to the person behind killing his dad, he knows he has no other choice but to go after them. Yet he’s also got the worry of rumours that are going around about someone is trying to take out his sister Makenna as Boss… but until he gets proof and finds out who it is, he has to keep searching.
With a plan in mind when it comes to getting revenge on the person who killed his dad, he sets out to do it, only things get thrown into the air when it’s clear that not everything is as it seems when he sets out to go and kidnap Destiny. Deciding to free her from the clutches of her father, he can’t help but wonder what it is about her that’s got him in knots, but he knows for a fact that he needs to find out what she knows so that he can take down her father. Will Finn be able to figure out how to keep Destiny from escaping him or is he set to lose her for good?? When Destiny gets taken from his home will it be her father attempting to come back at him to show him who’s in charge or will it be someone else entirely??
Is Destiny to be trusted or is she in cahoots with her father?? Who is the mysterious person in charge of trying to take down Makenna or is that still just rumours???
