After the amazing ending for Violent Delights I was expecting a lot more from this book, I was expecting the same level of suspense, drama and the massive pull you get when you’re drawn into a story. However, I feel that this one didn’t have what I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, Jessica Hawkins is a talented writer, she knows how to write an incredible story and pull the characters together, but this one wasn’t as incredible as the first one. I did think that this story was good and I was hooked onto the story, but I didn’t feel the pull as I did for the first book. I was also left a little disappointed with the end, I thought that as the book had been building up quite a bit and that Natalia kept calling Cristiano, that there was this big dramatic event happen, but for me I didn’t feel like the ending did justice…. I know that there is going to be so many people out there that will think differently about this book and feel that the ending was incredible, but for me it just didn’t work as good as I thought it would and left me feeling disappointed. Normally I’m shocked by the ending of books, but I didn’t even have that reaction when I saw the end. On a whole though, the rest of the book was good, it was predictable at times, but it wasn’t a bad read. I would recommend on reading this though if you are fully invested into what happens with Natalia, she is an interesting character.
Back in the first book I was all for Diego, but now after reading it, I’m unsure of which brother is actually the good one or even if they are actually good…. Jessica did such a great job at portraying the two brothers, and I’m invested into seeing how it will play out between them.
Natalia can’t believe what’s happened, she has no idea how complicated her life just became all because of being kept in the dark. Now she is having to deal with the fact that she is now married to…….. Cristiano, the one person who she despises more than anyone, but with no other choice this is the choice she’s given and takes it. Her life is about to change and her eyes are going to be opened up to a whole new outlook on life, but whether she is ready for it, is something she is about to learn. She is determined to find a way out of this whole arrangement, she can’t stand Cristiano, but he somehow manages to show her that Diego isn’t the person she thought he was, so now with no one who she can trust she does what she can to survive but she’s in for a shock. Will she be able to find a way out of all this, or will Cristiano be able to convince her that he’s not the devil or the bad guy she keeps portraying him as?
