I’ve been waiting a while to get my hands on the third instalment of this series and honestly, Jessica Hawkins’ has outdone herself with this book. Out of all three I have to say that this was the best by far, I honestly wasn’t sure if she could up the game for this book after the other two, but honestly she knows how to completely throw you off base. She did such an amazing job and I really can’t help but love this story. At one point because of such a huge twist she’d thrown in I was tempted to shout at her because I generally thought she had done the unspeakable thing with one of the characters… It’s not often I want to shout at an author for what they’ve done, but due the twist that she created she completely threw me off guard and I was not expecting it. I’m actually going to miss Natalia and Cristiano, they have both become such incredible characters and honestly, I love how badass Natalia has become. I never thought I’d like Cristiano but Jessica sure knows how to twist things around when you least expect them. Honestly, I couldn’t fault this book at all, it was perfect in every way imaginable and you can see that Jessica’s writing has grown massively with each book she’s written. Seriously, if you’ve not read either the series or this book yet, you NEED to…. It’s well worth it and you’ll be in for a lot of surprises.
The last thing that Cristiano heard was the cries of his wife screaming down the phone, but with him on his quest to find the missing puzzle piece, he’s no where near her or able to help protect her. But that’s the least of his problems because he’s currently fighting for his own life after someone tampered with his drink…..
Natalia was so close to asking Cristiano to come home to her, because she is starting to release that he’s not the guy she thought he was, he’s not the monster she thought of him to be all these years. In fact, he has a heart but just as she’s about to tell him all that, there’s a break in back at Badlands. Luckily she’s been taught to defend herself if she’s ever in the position of being attacked and luckily everything she’s been taught pays off. The only matter is who was behind the attack over here, but when she learns that Cristiano is fighting for his life, and that one of his security has been taken hostage it doesn’t take long to figure out that this was all planned, but by who? With so many questions and little answers for them, and timing not on their side will Natalia be able to hold the fort in Badlands, figure out who’s trying to take them down and will Cristiano pull through? What will happen when she learns that she’s been betrayed by the one person she never thought would do that and will she finally get answers as to who killed her mother all those years ago?
