I was excited to learn about what happened in the years leading up to when Rainey took on the role for her family of being a Hunter, and I can honestly say that I was honestly surprised. I was completely hooked on this story from the very first page and I loved the insight that it gave us about the paranormals in Billings that took place before the series even started. It was such an intriguing book and I loved how there was characters from the series that were in this. I honestly think that Jessica Wayne did an amazing job with this book and whilst it’s a standalone it tells us things that you could never have imagined.
I honestly can’t fault anything that Jessica did, she told this story in such a way that ended up leaving you wanting more. I felt for Z because it’s not like he had a choice in what was happening, and he was doing everything he could to make sure he was doing the right thing for his pack, but at the same time his wolf calling his mate was something he couldn’t ignore. If you’re not a shifter it’s hard to understand, so it’s easy to brush off as something that’s just lust.
Seriously this book is well worth the read, but then again I’d recommend anything that Jessica writes because she is talented and I can’t help but love her work.
Three years ago Laurens family were murdered because of one promise her mother promised the lead coven they lived in… Now years on and Lauren will stop at nothing to get justice for her family, and thanks to the owner of the gym where she currently works and lives in, she is improving on her fighting skills. Everything is going according to plan, well it was until Z strolled into her life. Despite doing her best to warn him off, she can’t seem to stop ending up in the same places as him.
Will she give into the lust that she’s feeling for him even though it’s forbidden for the two of them, or will she continue on with her mission whilst trying not to get herself killed???
