I remember when I first picked up one of J. S. Cooper’s books, I instantly fell in love with her writing, it was clear that she could piece a story together. As the years have progressed with her writing, the books that I’ve read has changed in a variety of ways, but considering I’ve not been able to keep up every book she’s released it’s hard to see where she’s grown as an author.
I don’t even know how many stars I’ve give this book because adding everything up and what I thought about the story, it’s one of those books that just makes it a hard decision.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea that this story has to offer, but from what I was picturing is completely different to what actually happened. Normally I love that type of idea, but when it’s not exactly been thought out all that well and you can see inconsistencies throughout the story. I understand the hard work that goes into creating these stories, plus I know that it can be a kick to an author when they see that not everyone was in love with the book that they have put out there. However, no matter what happens in life you won’t be able to win everyone over, but it’s just how you handle it is how it will determine what type of person you are.
I know for a fact that there’s a huge portion already that think this book was incredibly amazing, but to me I’m not sure what it is that I’m missing. As I already stated, I loved the idea of the story, but there was just so much that just didn’t feel right or even work… but again, that’s just my opinion.
I actually found myself not liking Isabella, there was just something about her that just didn’t seem real about her. For example, I get that she would do anything for her best friend, but for someone who wasn’t interested in someone’s family money or even wealth for all that matter if they hadn’t earned it themselves, it sure showed a shallow side of her for going ahead and wanting to try and con her best friend’s family into giving him money so that he can open up his café. Surely if you’re not the type of person who thinks money isn’t important but who you are on the inside is, then I don’t think she should have gone along with the scheme that was taking place. To me it just gave us females a bad reputation, and I hate that now a days we’re most likely referenced to being similar like Golddiggers as the minute we know someone is from money we do anything we can to try and get a bit of it… And in all honesty, I hate that’s how we’re subjected too at times.
Hell, if I was Isabella, the minute my best friend even suggested the idea to me, I’d be like as much as I respect you, that’s just something I can’t do… even if it’s for both of our futures I just can’t because I’d much rather find a way to work for what I need.
At times I thought Jack was okay, but not fully the best, I get he has issues from the past, but still 10 years is a good while to actually mull over them considering he’s meant to be an adult and be in charge of a company… but I hate how one minute he’s so flirty (well as much as he tries without putting his foot in it) but then in an instant he’s a right jerk, he’s all up in Isabella’s face constantly and it just seems like he doesn’t respect women. I get he’s this big shot guy and could have anything and everything he wanted in the palms of his hands, but still, there’s a way to go about things.
I would honestly go into more but I feel like it would spoil the book for you and that’s the last thing I want to happen, plus I don’t want this to turn into one big essay even though I can kind of see that it has a little and that truly wasn’t my intention however I have to be honest and sometimes we have to make choices that we don’t exactly like or want to do… If anything, I’d much rather you experience it for yourself and see what you make of it. It’s okay us leaving reviews, but it’s not our reviews that will make up your mind, it may sway you slightly, but it’s still not your own opinion… that you need to form for yourself.
After reading so far, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to read to the end, as this story has the ideas, it’s just not been executed all that well. It seems like the story was rushed and I hate it when that happens as I love getting to know the ins and outs of them all, the gritty little details, but still there was just so much that didn’t work in my opinion. Even the whole Worst Date got brushed over, okay they would go back to it every now and then, but in terms of Isabella wanting to have it out with Abby, that didn’t really happen… Abby didn’t exactly feel guilty for how things played out between Isabella and Jack. If I’d done that to my friend, I’d be feeling so bad and guilty considering all I’d want is for them to be happy, to experience a fun time especially when it comes to them trying to find their forever person. I’d be going up to my friend and doing my best to actually apologise for how things turned out, but that never happened in this book.
To sum up this book and what I thought of it, it’s been such a hard process and I know for a fact it’s going to either upset people or possibly have so many that don’t agree with what I’ve thought and said, but at the end of the day, reviews are our own thoughts, what we think. Don’t get me wrong, I feel bad for how this has turned out, but we can’t love every book that is ever published. But even still, don’t just take my word for this, go and explore for yourself as you’ll most likely think something else to me.
Isabella and her friends haven’t been on dates in a while, they always end up picking the worst guys possible. So, when Abby (one of Isabella’s best friends/ flatmates) suggests of setting each of them all up for online dating, the only catch is that the persons who profile it is wouldn’t get to have access to it, everyone but Isabella can’t help but jump at it.
After Abby manages to find her the perfect date, Isabella knows instantly that she should just turn around and not walk into the restaurant, but still Isabella can’t help but want to please people… so she does the only thing that her feet allow her too, walks into the restaurant and ends up having the worst date ever. Something is off about the entire date, even after making the stupid mistake of going back to his and sleeping with him, he just instantly switches and starts making demands of her. Doing the only logical thing, Isabella walks out, hoping to never see the jerk again… But clearly luck isn’t on her side as when she goes off to help her best friend, the last person she was expecting to see was her date (Jack) from the night before…. Realising that he is related to her best friend, she could literally cry…
Will Jack give up and out her or does he have something to score with her???
