I always love to pick up anything written by Bella Emy and that’s mainly because I love her writing, but also due to the fact that her covers are always so eye-catching. It’s like they just speak out to you, and you can’t help but want to go ahead and dive right in.
This book was no exception, but then again, I didn’t expect anything else from Bella, she just seems to know what her readers want and twists it into something so exciting and gripping that you can’t help but love her imagination.
I loved both Serenity and Zander, they just seemed to mesh together so well and if anything I thought of it to be such a fitting storyline. I thought that the way the story was plotted out was such an interesting one, and thought of it to work really well, yet there was just a couple of things that I would to have loved to know more of. For instance, it states at the beginning that Zander ends up handing in his resignation at his job, yet then as soon as chapter one starts, it’s as if he never did and nothing was brought up about it until a lot later in the book. I would love to have had that little bit in the first chapter explaining that he took some time off for a few a bit but then he ended up back at the fire station, for me I think if that little bit had been added in it would have been pretty smooth sailing for him.
Another thing that stood out to me is that it seems like Serenity is with her sister for a good while, I just don’t seem to understand why she didn’t go and get her belongings from the life she left behind until it was too late. If anything, if I was in her position I would have gone back, grabbed the meaningful things that I cared about and then left for good as I would have been able to replace everything.
The last thing is that she took time off her job that she adored, and her boss was understanding of the circumstances, yet then that job is never mentioned again. I just find it odd that she never had a second thought about it considering she loved it.
Other than that, I loved how everything developed and the fact that both Serenity and Zander grew as characters, Bella just seemed to nail their personalities perfectly and I just loved everything about them.
If you’re looking for a sweet read but a bit of a twist, I’d highly recommend giving this a try considering Bella’s work is pretty incredible and gripping. She’s never disappointed me and I just can’t help but love her stories that she creates.
Serenity had her life all set out, she had an amazing life, a great job which she loved, the perfect fiancé and she was a month away from getting married. Choosing to surprise her loving fiancé at work with dinner, she ends up getting the surprise of her life when she discovers him cheating on her with his co-worker. Deciding that she needs to get away and figure out life for herself as there’s no way she can carry on with the one she currently was, she heads to her hometown to spend some time with her sister (Lissa). Deciding to be sworn off men for good due to her broken heart, she can’t help but find herself being swept off her feet by the local fireman (Zander).
With them both having their own reasons for staying out of relationships, they find themselves struggling to keep to their own words, but when Zander has a secret that could break the two of them, he struggles with what to do.
Will they fall head over heels in love with each other, or will something go wrong along the way and tear them apart for good???
