I always enjoy picking up one of Carrie Aarons’ books because they always seem to just grip you in so many ways, and this time was no different as if anything this book was quite relatable. Everyone has their own inner demons to deal with, but it’s literally just how we choose to cope. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Amelia and Gannon and they are my favourite couple in this series, but with Callum and Bevan their story just seemed to hit home a hell of a lot and that was due to the fact that they both had their own demons to face but still they were hurting so much.
I loved how sassy and sarcastic Bevan was, yeah she had her issues from her past, but still she was a great girl and was willing to do what she could to make sure that she achieved her dream of making it as a lawyer. I did also feel for her because she was hurting immensely due to the fact that the love of her life has broken her heart and ended things between them. But still no matter what life threw at her I thought she was pretty bad ass.
I thought Callum was a good guy, yes I do think he should have looked at everything in a clearer picture and not just blame everything that went on in their relationship just on Bevan, but compared to how he was in Amelia and Gannon’s book, it was a shock at seeing how different he was in their story to now as he was a ghost in theirs but this book he seemed a little more held together even if he was hurting a lot.
Overall, I do think that Carrie did a great job at exploring their story because whilst they weren’t exactly on the same page, they were also so right for each other, it was literally just they both needed to do some soul searching and both grow as their own persons.
I loved every minute of it and honestly am proud at how far that Carrie has come with her stories, I just can’t help but keep wanting to read more and more of her work.
I have no idea what she has in store for Scott’s story, but considering he’s the playboy of the group, I’m interested in seeing how things will progress for him.
Bevan had her whole life ahead of her, she was planning on becoming such a successful lawyer, get married to her high school sweetheart, they would have their family and things would just keep going up for them. That was until Callum came ahead and crushed any chance of them building their forever.
Now it’s a year later and Bevan is still struggling, she’s already dealt with abandonment issues all her life and now the one person who she thought she could count on has left her for good. The only thing that’s keeping her busy is doing well in college and chasing after her dream, but when Callum moves back in she knows that this last year isn’t exactly going to go by easy. But she is also determined to try and win him back, but it’s whether or not she’ll be able to face her demons.
Will Callum be able to keep up his end of what he said and stay away and move on from Bevan or will he end up caving and jumping back into their relationship??
Will Bevan be able to get the help she so desperately needs or is she set to not get what she wants back???
